INSPIRATION
PREP TIME
- Ensure you block off an hour of your day for this quality time you are about to spend with your timepiece(s) and My Watch Memoir
- When the long-awaited time arrives, play your favorite music in the background, pour yourself a glass of your favorite drink (e.g. a nice dark coffee, a dram of scotch) and start enjoying this experience
- Once you have taken your first sip and your body is moving to your favorite beat, go grab My Watch Memoir and the timepiece(s) you will be writing about (ensure you keep them at a safe distance from drink)
TIMEPIECE ENTRY (LEFT-HAND PAGE)
- Now that you are in your ‘happy place’, hold the watch you will write about, take a look at it and realize how much happiness this piece of art is bringing into your life at this moment
- Start by completing all the technical entries first, such as the watch reference, production year, movement, case size, purchase facts, etc.
- Now that you have warmed up with your watch facts and the juices are flowing, start writing your watch notes with all that proper watch lingo you have acquired (e.g. highlight how the beautiful two-tone sector dial is complemented by the refined plume hands or Breguet numerals)
- Once you have described your beautiful watch, go back to the past and relive the day you inherited / purchased this piece. Recall things like the watch’s provenance, the tough negotiation with the seller, the stories you built together and record all those precious memoires
- Given you will be in a state of ecstasy by this time, please note that if you need more page real estate, you can also write things on the right-hand page. However, please keep in mind that that page was designed to contain the physical photographs of your timepiece
- In case you end up using both pages, you can simply slip in the photo(s) in between the pages without pasting them. Given My Watch Memoir has an elastic closure band, loose photos or paperwork should stay safely in place
PHOTO ENTRY (RIGHT-HAND PAGE)
- The time has come for you to show-off your photography skills. Please note that you do not have to complete this section on the same sitting unless you have your photos ready
- You will notice this page has the hand-drawn horological artwork. The artwork was added for your enjoyment while you complete your memoir. However, when the time comes to fill this page, feel free to display the artwork or cover it with your photos (remember, it’s your book)
- In terms of the photos, you can use old ones you may have taken of your timepiece, but we really enjoyed having a mini photo session with each of our timepieces to complete this section. We captured pictures that clearly showcased the dial, case and movement (if possible)
- Regarding photo printing, given the page is 6x9”, the easiest way to complete this section is to print a collage of your selected photos in a 6x8” size. This way, you paste only one photo vs. cutting and pasting many
- In case you ended writing on both pages, you can simply slip in the photo(s) in between the pages without pasting them. Given My Watch Memoir has an elastic closure band, loose photos or paperwork should stay safely in place
PHOTO LAYOUTS
There is a wide variety of photo layouts you can create with regular sized photo prints given the 6x9" pages. Below are some ideas:
As previously mentioned, the easiest way will be to print a single photo collage in a 6x8” size
Most photo printing companies have a photo collage drag & drop option. Below are some examples of our photo collages:
